    2. Norma Thain
    3. Hello Ok folks, here are the final details for the Civic Reception... The Civic Reception will start at 7.00 pm, on Friday 10th August the Reception and will take place in the City Chambers , City Square, Dundee. When the Lord Provost of Dundee, John R. Letford J.P. will welcome our Petrie of Scotland Genealogy Group to the City of Dundee. A small Wine & a Finger buffet will be served, when we will all have the opportunity to introduce ourselves and have a chat with Provost Letford and his staff and of course with each other !! :o) We will also have a guided tour of the City Chambers and learn of some of the Civic history of the City. We have 80 people attending the reception....and it would be very much appreciated if everyone could bring along and wear a Name Badge showing your name and where your from...... Usually a Civic Reception lasts around 1 hr 30 mins, although I suspect ours might take a bit longer !! :o) How to get there.... The City Square in Dundee is in the Centre of the city and is well signposted, but please note that the City Square and surrounds are pedestrianised area's. Car Parking for approx. 30 cars should be available for us in the Private Underground Car Park located in Crichton Street, you can then use the stairs on Crichton Street for quick access to the City Square..... alternatively some on-street parking is available nearby and there are also a couple of Public Car Park's available within walking distance. For a good on-line map showing the location of the City Chambers and Crichton Street for Car Parking Use http://uk5.multimap.com/ enter the full address: City Chambers, City Square, Dundee and use a scale of 5,000... you can then print it out for reference. To see a webcam view of the City Square, Dundee at http://www.angusanddundee.co.uk/home.htm use the "Quick Access" Link and select Dundee click on "look round Dundee City Centre" (although it's an old pix and some of the landmarks have changed !!) Also on the same page you can select the Dundee City Centre Heritage Trail.... and see a photograph of the City Square, showing the Arches leading to the City Chambers this picture was taken just outside the Marryat Hall. !! The website at http://www.angusanddundee.co.uk/home.htm is excellent for further information on Dundee & Angus, it's worth having a good look around it for useful information for all visitors to the area. I'll be at the City Chambers from 6.30 pm with the Invitation Tickets for the few folks who have asked to pick them up from me on the night....all others who are attending should have already received them by post. If not please e.mail me at [email protected] I'll also have a wee stash of blank name badges & spare invitation tickets in my bag for anyone who might misplace or forget them during their travels....so please do not worry in that event. :o) I think that's most things covered for the Civic Reception, should anyone have any further queries please just drop me a line.... See you there ...... !!!! :o) Cheerio Norma
