Dear Folks, I am researching my Gran's Petrie family who lived in Inverness. John Petrie married Jean Reid 18 July 1767 Inverness.They had at least 8 children the youngest Thomas b.4 Sept 1787 being my ancestor. John and Jean are both buried in the Chapelyard cemetary Inverness. Beside their flat stone is another Petrie one recording James Petrie, 'sheriff and burges of Inverness' and his spouce Barbra Goland (Gollan, in the OPR). James and Barbra may be John's Grandparents. If any one else is researching Petrie's in the Inverness area and can shed any light on this family it would be great to hear from you.
