Hello Gordon, It was very nice to hear from a Petrie connection in Christchurch. My connections really come through my Great Grandmother on my Mother's side. She was Margaret Petrie and she emigrated to NZ, via Wellington on the Maori and arrived in Dunedin in 1856. I understand that she was born in Durris, Kincardineshire in January 1835 and that her father, William Petrie, was from Malloch (which I believe is in Kincardineshire). So, your Dundee connection is a little further south than mine. I haven't been able to establish for sure just which family Margaret is from but she married Robert Gibson in 1869 in Otago.
