    3. Hello John Delighted to have you join our list on behalf of Ross Petrie of London, I received your query message along with your subscribe request to the list and will reply to it here, I hope you have since received our Welcome message to the list. A number of us here on the Mailing List have researched the Petrie families in specific areas throughout Scotland, and we would be most interested to know of Ross's - Petrie connections. I have also created a database of over 14,500 Petrie BMD, census & burial events in Scotland, the core base of information being extracted from the 1992 IGI birth & marriage indexes, this research is ongoing, database look up requests are most welcome through the list, and I would be pleased to pass on any details I might have, on Ross's line. There are also a few Petrie Message Boards available on the internet at : Rootsweb (although this board is unavailable over the next few days as they are upgrading the system) http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/surnames/pet/Petrie Genforum http://genforum.genealogy.com/petrie/ MyFamily.com http://www.familyhistory.com/ Surname Web http://www.surnameweb.org/registry/p/e/t/petrie.shtml I hope some of the above is of interest and we will look forward to further details of Ross's Petrie connections, with over 150 Petrie researchers subscribed to this list .....you never know he may even have a distant cousin amongst us !! :o) Best regards Norma Thain (nee Petrie) List Admin. Angus, Scotland ----- Original Message ----- From: "johnhutton" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, June 18, 2001 1:31 PM Subject: 'Subscribe' > I am e-mailing you on behalf of a Petrie of Scots descent now living in London but who does not have e-mail facilities. His name is Ross Petrie, and if there is no problems I, as an existing member of the Aberdeen and NE Scotland FHS will act as his e-mail intermediary. > Apart from the mailing list, has much genealogical work been done on this particular family? I did try to find a bulletin board or genealogical forum for the Petries on the internet, but without any success. > > Regards > John >
