Hi Janine, I know I've sent you this information a few times, but it doesn't hurt to renew the interest. My Great Grandmother was Catherine PETRIE, born in Caithness about 1850. The location and date comes from the 1861 Census where she is listed as a servant on the farm Barnyards, just outside Wick, belonging to the BREMNER family. In that census she is listed as 12 years old. On this census her place of birth is listed as Caithnesshire. On her marriage certificate in Glasgow in 1872, she lists her parents, both deceased, as George PETRIE, journeyman Blacksmith, and Elizabeth CAMPBELL. I have never found her parents listed on any census in Caithness, nor can I find a marriage certificate or death certificate for them, or a birth certificate for Catherine. I have a number of possibilities, but no hard facts connecting to any of the Caithness or Orkney PETRIES! George Weston
