Hello - I'm James Derek Petrie - called Derek. Born Paradise Road, Dundee on 5th November 1942. I am married with one daughter who was recently engaged to be married. My home address is 86 Craighill Drive, Clarkston, Glasgow G76.7TD. My father was James Brodie Petrie - born 1913 in Dundee - died 1993 in Glasgow. He married my mother Elizabeth Mitchell Petrie (nee Scott) in 1941 in Dundee. My mother's family lived in St Mary's Gardens, Downfield, Dundee. She was born in 1907 and was one of 4 daughters Nette, Elizabeth, Mary and Nan - only my mother is alive of the four daughters - aged 94! My Grandfather was James Alexander Petrie who resided at 544 Strathmartin Road, Downfield, Dundee until the late 1930's when he bought a house 'Bower Bank' at 12 Park Road, Fairmuir, Dundee. He had 4 children, Brodie, Birrel, Mabel and Aileen. I attended Dundee High School 1948/9 to 1954/5 - approx before moving to Uddingston, near Glasgow in mid-1950's. Took early retirement in 1999 and now enjoy golf, DIY, internet activities and a little Scottish country dancing! Well, that's enough for the moment - I'm new to family history and archiving activities - so forgive me if I am not presenting the expected information to this select band of Petrie researchers.
