PETRIE of SCOTLAND GATHERING LATE NEWS :: I'll be posting this at the Gathering too, as many are already on their way..... :o) Delighted to let you know Tay Valley Family History Society have invited our Petrie Gathering participants for a private visit to use their Research Centre facilities on Sunday 14 August between 1pm and 4 pm, for those interested contact Murray & Clare Nicoll on Saturday morning in the Marryat Hall. Dundee Courier & Advertiser, which covers the Tayside area, ran an article in their newspaper on our Petrie Gathering yesterday..... the response has been wonderful, and my phone has been ringing constantly since with Petrie's planning to come and join us at our Public event..... call of the day was from Peggy Petrie age 86 ...she says she is "so excited to come along, she just can't wait to get there" she says "I knew every Petrie in Arbroath, 'cos it used to be just a wee place and we were all related....!!!" I for one am really looking forward to meeting Peggy !! :o) Edinburgh Dinner - Chef at Crowne Plaza has suggested since we have such a large number taking over his restaurant on Monday evening..... and to ensure he can serve our party within our time schedule for getting to the Tattoo, that we could have a Hot Buffet instead.... So on further negotiation !! :o) We will now have the "full selection" of choices from the original 3 course Table'Dhote menu ....available as a Hot Buffet, Chef will replenish the buffet throughout, so we can eat as much as we like.... we met half way with a new price of £12.50 per person. Just heard the Tall Ships participating in the Cutty Sark Race sail into Dundee 10th August 2001 and dock for 5 days......(must've knew we were coming :o) they will take to the water in full sail for a Sail Parade on Tuesday 14th.... Cheerio the noo Norma
