Greetings to All. My name is Chris Thorpe and I'm researching Petries on my wife's side of the family. Some of the information I've gathered comes from the IGI and some from family and other sources. Here's where I'm at: John Petrie b ~1794 m. Anne Wisely b. ~1798 around 1819. Both were from Insch, Aberdeen There were 5 children (Janet 1820, Anne 1825, Mary 1829, Agnes 1831, George 1833). All sailed to Canada in 1850. John died on the voyage and was buried at sea. Settled at Garafraxa township in Wellington County where George ran the farm. Agnes married John Moffatt on May 25, 1854 and this is the line from which my wife is descended. George married Sarah Sandy in 1861 and they had 8 children (Anne 1861, George 1865, John 1865, Maria 1869, Henry William 1871, Albert 1873, George Alexander 1879, William ??) It is the siblings of Agnes and George and George's descendents that I have no idea about. If there is anyone out there that is part of this Petrie family I'd love to here from them.
