Hi Folks, Back on line after a wonderful, but hectic, weekend. It was great to meet so many Petries from all around the world and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did. Our thanks to all who were there for making the Ceilidh such a good night and especially to Norma for making it all possible. I thought you might be interested in this report from the local paper in Blairgowrie dated Saturday, 11 January 1908 which was sent to me last year by Heather Johnson - "At Ballinloan Farm last Friday night Mr & Mrs JOHN PETRIE entertained a number of neighbours and friends to a supper and dance. After a hearty repast dancing was engaged in until the early hours. Mr P Stewart made a capable MC. Excellent music was supplied on violin by Messrs Steele, Cameron and PETRIE. Songs were rendered by Misses Cameron and Messrs PETRIE and Fell" The JOHN PETRIE referred to will be JOHN REID PETRIE b.8 May 1861, grandson of JOHN PETRIE & BETSY ROBERTSON. If you look at the web-site you will see how JOHN & BETSY'S ggg-grandchildren are carrying on the musical tradition. Look forward to the next one! Hazel
