Hello all. My name is Karen Anne Petrie. I am new to the genealogical arena, and am still treading water!! My father was Harold Alexander Petrie, b 1924 in Vancouver BC, d. 1990 in Sardis, BC. He has 5 living brothers, apparently there were more children, but the rest passed at early ages. His parents were Andrew Petrie b. 1892 in Scotland d.1960 in Langley, BC. His wife (my paternal Grandmother) was Mary Ann Beane (spelling may be off) who was born in England in 1895. She died in 1964 in New Westminster BC on Sept. 9, 1964. Hi Karen, Strange to see another Karen Petrie! I am Karen Elizabeth Petrie - here is where is gets funny - my father was Harold Ferguson Petrie born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and his parents were John Ferguson Petrie (born in Scotland) and Pearl Barnett. My grandfather's father was Andrew Petrie born in Scotland and his wife was Jane Ferguson (both of them are buried in Toronto - deceased 1909). My grandfather had siblings that ventured to western Canada but up to know I have not been too successful in finding any connections. I don't believe you and I have the same family tree at this point anyway but wanted to say welcome. Many of the Petrie researchers are in Scotland right now so I am sure you will see some replies once they are back at their computers. As you can see so many of the names used were the same and this makes it very difficult to trace in some cases. My 14 year old son is presently in White Rock BC...visiting some distant family - Good luck with your research and if you and I happen to find a connection I would be delighted!
