Hi Russ Afraid I do not yet have a record for Sim Petrie and his family in my database, but I'll be sure to have a look for his birth certificate for you next time I am at SRO. There were a couple of David Petrie's from Kettle in that time frame, who I know of as having lived in Bankton Park ....... David Petrie (spouse Helen Fox) was noted at Bankton Park, Kettle in the 1861 census aged about 2 and he is a direct ancestor of Gavin Petrie in New Zealand. Although we have no record of him having a son named Sim (unless this was a nickname) and I understand from Gavin that all of this family emigrated to New Zealand. Another was David Barlas Petrie he was born 1850 and was noted living at Bankton Park in the 1881 census, as were a number of other Petrie families, his 1881 census record shows he is married but it would appear to be a lone entry ?? So I am unaware at this time who his spouse was..... his parents are known to be David Petrie & Helen Dalrymple, and his grandparents were your William Petrie & Janet Buck, again Gavin has details on this line, so perhaps he can pick up on this with you. Do you have further details of Sim's siblings and parents as found in the 1891 census ?? I would be most interested to have this information for the database, and might be able to make a marriage match through the database if I have Sim's mothers name...
