My G Grandfather was James PETRIE 1843 to 1912 of Woodend, Auchindoir. His parents were Robert PETRIE and Ann COLLIE, who did not marry. I am stuck with this Robert PETRIE - there were 55 Robert PETRIEs alive at this time. I am particularly interested in a Robert PETRIE of Kennethmont chr 1805 died 1885 who was the son of William PETRIE and Ann ROBERTSON in your line. I feel sure that you must know of this man and as you live only 30 miles from Kennethmont you probably know the area very well. Please tell me all that you know of this Robert PETRIE. Now for the COOKs! Rosemary, your mother is Mary Cook HUNTER - which tells me that your maternal grandmother was a COOK. Am I right? All the COOKs in Aberdeenshire can be traced back to just 3 families in the 1600's. These 3 are probably also related, but the records to prove it do not appear to have survived.
