Hello Bill, There has been a lot of talk of Reids lately and straying a little from Petries..... you have obviously been doing research in New Foundland. I am chasing a John Reid, Mariner, (married Sarah Phillips) and living in Island Cove, New Foundland about the mid 1800s. I have no idea where he came from but might it be Scotland, tied in with the fishing fleets that fished off the Dogger Bank, New Foundland? Do you know why your Great-Grandfather, Alexander Petrie migrated to new Foundland??? Is there a web site for New Foundland research? Any thoughts gratefully received. Gillian. Christchurch, NZ.
