Dear Norna and friends I have the following in my ancestry and so far have been unable to trace the Petrie connection. I would be most grateful for any help. William Pertie Austin born March 27 1861 in Aberdeen. His parents were Robert Austin and Mary Ann Ford William a House Painter living in Ballater married Jane Gillanders on November 6 1889 in Aberdeen. He married a second time to Maggie Gillanders. William died on September 18 at the home of his niece Jane Pirie in Aberdeen. William Petrie Austin was born March 8 1885 in Aberdeen. William was a mate on a Trawler out of Aberdeen. He never married and died on February 15 1972 in Aberdeen. Charles Ewen East Kilbride, Scotland.

Dear Charles, Doubt if I have any connection for you, however, William Petrie came with a family of seven to New Brunswick, Canada , possibly aboard the Castilia, in 1873-74.. He was a brother of my great grandfather Joseph and his family of five and their father, my gg grand-father with five more family members. My grandfather Robert, son of Joseph, eight years old at the time was on of the five members of Joseph's family. Also aboard on that trip were William Pirie and family of eleven and Alexander Pirie, no family members with him. I have the history book of 618 people who arrived in the two trips, 0f 1873-74. Don't know if this is of any help to you. I have not been able to make any connections with my family, to date. We know that my Petrie family were all from the Aberdeen area.
