Hi Hazel, Many thanks for this new information which brings yet another Petrie connection into your family !! :o) ....I had a look on the database and to date all I have on ANNIE PETRIE & ALEXANDER REID at the moment is their marriage date from IGI......15 August 1789 @ Kirkmichael, Perth. Cannot get onto the on-line IGI to get a list of their known children ....do you have them ?? Although I do find I have death details for one of their sons.... Death Cert Ref: 1864 KIRKMICHAEL (page3 entry 7) JOHN REID married to BETSY MORRISON Farmer of Croftmire, Kirkmichael died 19 APRIL 1864 age 73 YEARS parents ANNE PETRIE/ALEXANDER REID Died at 3.45 pm of Disease of Bladder (some years) his death was registered by his son Alexander Reid ********** >From info we have already found, the above John Reid was brother to Alexander Reid (spouse Ann McDonald) and Uncle to John Reid who married your Elisabeth Petrie in 1860, (whose respective sister & brother George Petrie & Margaret Reid had also married in 1858....) and since John & Elisabeth's marriage certificate stated they were 2nd cousins (as were then George & Margaret !!) Does this then suggest (if the 2nd cousin connection was through the Petrie line) that their grandparents John Petrie (spouse Betty Robertson) and Annie Petrie (spouse Alexander Reid) ...were brother & sister ?? Or am I barking up the wrong "tree" altogether ?? :o) Phew !!
