Hi David, This is a placename problem often encountered by visitors to this area, Lunan and Lunanhead are two different places, Lunan is about 5 miles from Montrose, and is found on the coast in between Montrose & Arbroath, the area is also known as Lunan Bay.... Lunanhead however is a wee village 2 miles North East of Forfar. With a distance of approximately 12 miles between them, as I understand it, the link is that Lunanhead is the area where the Lunan Water is sourced and it flows all the way to the coast to Lunan Bay.
