William Matthew Flinders Petrie born 03 June 1853 at Charlton, Kent, England married HILDA URLIN in 1896 died 1942 First visited Egypt in 1879 and is renowned as one of the greatest archaeological and Egyptological pioneers. Was a Professor at University College London, was Knighted (date unknown) and trained some of the most famous Egyptologists including Howard Carter who later discovered Tutankhamun's tomb.
