    3. Hello All Hello All and especially Kirkmichael Petries ....................... All it took was a plea from the heart and we are all coming out of the woodwork :-) Well, I'm still here!! There's been a good try at getting rid of me but the NHS has been fighting in my corner :-) Not done much on the Family History side ....... that said Stephen and Karen, have just obtained a pic of Mossend Railway Station (remember - David Grant Petrie's mother worked there). Let me know if you want me to send it to you. Hope you are all well? 1. Re: [Petrie-Scotland] Hello from New Zealand
    2. Patricia: Do you have any more information about your Alexander Petrie? My g grandfather, James Petrie, b. 4 Jun 1838 in Arbroath, Angus, Scotland had a birth certificate that said, Child: James Petrie, Mother: Mary Jarron; Father: "Alias" Petrie. This suggests that he was born an illegitimate child. With the help of Norma Thain who found his marriage certificate when he married Helen Wightman on 3 Sep 1890 after the death of his first wife, Jessie Sim on 17 Jul 1888, his father is listed as Alexander Petrie, master baker. Since I do not know which of the various Alexanders who appear in Arbroath records mine might be, I have a "stone wall" which prevents me from getting further back in my ancestry search. If you even knew he was a master baker, it would give me some hope that tracing his line back further had some change of legitimacy for my line. My mother was Mary Edna Petrie, born in Beverly, MA in 1905. Her father was James Petrie, b. 18 Feb 1867 in Arbroath. Since you show your Alexander Petrie having married Jane Sangster in 1833, he could be my gg grandfather in terms of date timing. With James being born in 1838, the period could fit. 1. Hello to you all
    2. Roy & Marge
    3. It has been terrific to hear from you all, old friends and new. Our page has not been very active over the last few years maybe this will start us up again. Roy and I are still persevering with Petries on Orkney - Parish Holm and Paplay, joined Orkney FHS but did not receive any help, put our people on the backburner and have been concentrating on Ogilvie/Ogilvy from Shetland. Bear with us while I tell you all - ORKNEY - Researching PETRIE/PETRY, GARRIOCH, POTTINGER/POTENGER,KENT. SHETLAND - " OGILVIE/OGILVY (Greenwall,Unst) ROSS, STEWART. 3. I'm not exactly an orphan, I sort of know my family. I am looking for info and family of James PETRIE - born 1724 Forfar, Scotland. Married Margaret STALKER about 1759. Had the following children - John Petrie born 1760, married Jean HOGG. Thomas Petrie born about 1763. Janet Petrie, born about 1765, Hillhead, married John SKIRLING 1791 in Monikie. James Petrie, born about 1767, married Janet RAMAY 1803. Been a long time since I did anything on this line - might there be some relatives out there?

    3. I keep getting messages! My Petrie was Elizabeth Petrie who married George Brown & came to (Ontario) Canada around 1830-40. On one of their children's marriage certificates in 1869, a witness is listed as being John B. Petrie. I would assume a relative (uncle or cousin). I have been told the family came from Inverness Scotland. Thanks! T'rah, Cynthia
