Hi Norma, So REALLY GLAD to hear from you. Knowing of your health problems I was naturally concerned. I often think of our visit when I met you at St. Andrews in August of 2000 on that drizzily day and our chat over tea or cocoa (What was it?). I trust that you are doing well. Except for a miserable head cold that popped up over the weekend I am doing quite well for an old lady of 71. For the last two years I have had a gentleman friend, who incidentally gave me this cold so life has been good. My leukemia remains stable, my back pains most of the time, and I have a torn rotator cuff which will be surgically repaired in November. BUT I really feel great and happy. Keep in touch - wish I could visit Scotland again but it is doubtful. Affectionately, Barbara Sanborn Brewer, Maine USA ----- Original Message ----- From: "Norma Thain" <norma.thain@balgavies.demon.co.uk> To: <petrie-scotland@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, September 16, 2006 8:00 PM Subject: [PETRIE-SCOTLAND] A note from Norma ........ > Hello to Everyone > > Thanks so much for your very kind welcome notes, both here on the list and > on the website..... as I return to my Petrie Research after....well...it > has to have been years now !! > > I have finally ventured into Cyber Space once more....... it's been way too > long since I was last involved with the Petrie List & Website and loads of > things have kept me away. > > However the other day by pure chance I opened up my e.mails (for the first > time in an absolute age) and was delighted to discover the Petrie community > still thriving, amongst the e.mails I also found a subscription renewal > request for the Petrie Website....so I followed through on that and I > believe that an e.mail from MyFamily.com was then sent out to all the Petrie > website members.........and as a result it it has brought us all together > again. > > I can only apologise for being out of touch for so long..... and to those > who have encountered website password or mailing list problems, I think I > have rectified the most recent requests, should anyone else be encountering > problems or needing some guidance please do contact me ......I have a new > e.mail address which is norma.thain@balgavies.demon.co.uk > > I have also recently received word from Rootsweb that they have changed the > administration tools for this Petrie-Scotland Mailing List ....so I will go > and update myself about that... and I need to familiarise myself with the > website once more....and start opening up Petrie files which I have long > neglected, but I am looking forward to re-kindling our friendships and > taking a fresh look at all our Petrie family connections. > > best regards > Norma :o) > > Norma Thain nee Petrie > long lost Petrie-Scotland Mailing List Administrator > norma.thain@balgavies.demon.co.uk > > > > --- > avast! Hi Bruce, I have some Petries who were in Monikie and also have a few who were married into Stewarts. Do you have any specific names and I will be able to check to see if it is the same line, best wishes, Stephen Petrie ----- Original Message ----- From: lademill<mailto:lademill@aol.com> To: petrie-scotland@rootsweb.com<mailto:petrie-scotland@rootsweb.com> Sent: 17 September 2006 20:50 Subject: [PETRIE-SCOTLAND] Petries of Monikie& Panbride Hello everybody good to see the Petrie forum spark into life. Norma's message appeared on the Petrie Webpage. She did mention that she would be spending some time familiarising herself with the website again and as some changes have been made to administration tools for the lists she needed time to update on those as well. Cheers, Elva
Hello to Everyone Thanks so much for your very kind welcome notes, both here on the list and on the website..... as I return to my Petrie Research after....well...it has to have been years now !! I have finally ventured into Cyber Space once more....... it's been way too long since I was last involved with the Petrie List & Website and loads of things have kept me away. However the other day by pure chance I opened up my e.mails (for the first time in an absolute age) and was delighted to discover the Petrie community still thriving, amongst the e.mails I also found a subscription renewal request for the Petrie Website....so I followed through on that and I believe that an e.mail from MyFamily.com was then sent out to all the Petrie website members.........and as a result it it has brought us all together again. I can only apologise for being out of touch for so long..... and to those who have encountered website password or mailing list problems, I think I have rectified the most recent requests, should anyone else be encountering problems or needing some guidance please do contact me ......I have a new e.mail address which is norma.thain@balgavies.demon.co.uk I have also recently received word from Rootsweb that they have changed the administration tools for this Petrie-Scotland Mailing List ....so I will go and update myself about that... and I need to familiarise myself with the website once more....and start opening up Petrie files which I have long neglected, but I am looking forward to re-kindling our friendships and taking a fresh look at all our Petrie family connections. best regards Norma :o) Norma Thain nee Petrie long lost Petrie-Scotland Mailing List Administrator norma.thain@balgavies.demon.co.uk --- avast! Hello List, Have found a headstone for Helen Petrie (died 1864 - aged 89), her husband John Sorrel, and family, and William Petrie (died 1736 - aged 56), his wife Elizabeth Duncan and family. All are buried at Maryton Parish Churchyard, Angus (near Montrose and Craig Parishes). These families are no relations of mine, but I have digital photos of both the headstones should anyone want them. The headstones are very legible. Best wishes, Ian Edwards _________________________________________________________________ Be the first to hear what's new at MSN - sign up to our free newsletters! http://www.msn.co.uk/newsletters

Just letting the list know that Bill Petrie, from Camoweal Qld died yesterday in Townsville Hospital from a heart attack, following surgery. Bill was the grandson, of Andrew Petrie of Brisbane fame. His family, including Jessica who is my son's partner and mother of my beaurtifull grandsons are all gathering in Townsville today. No further details to hand. Annette in Cowra NSW
