Coleen, I looked up Kettle Churchyard for you and found several Moyes burials. Grave No.41 William Barclay Moyes B.30 Jan. 1819 Kettle. F. James Moyes, M. Margaret Forbes. 5 Children according to IGI. William drowned in river Earn on 12th. Nov. 1870. He was a signalman at Hilton Junction, near Perth for 22 Years. Grave No. 76 Thomas Findlay late of Melbourne D.22.12.1883 w. Helen Moyes. Robert Moyes M. Margaret Hill 28th. March 1841, Kettle. Son John Moyes B. 10 July 1842 D.17 Jan.1892 W. Margaret Milne D. 17 may 1924 aged 81. Son, Thomas Milne Moyes B.4 Aug.1873 Logie, Fife. Roberts other children, Elizabeth Moyes Ch.3 Mar. 1839, Alexander Moyes B.1 Jun. 1856. Another strange item is Ida Mary Moyes D. 15 May 1890. Aged 14. Familysearch.org has no record of her. She is buried in The Family grave of David Birrel and Elizabeth Petrie. Grave No.14 As for your Catharine Petrie M. Andrew Moyes, they were married at Anderston, Glasgow on 2nd. April 1872. I think his parents are Alexander Moise & Isabel Bayne. He was born 1 Mar. 1850 in Kettle. But Catharine Petrie, B.1850 Wick. no luck. Only Catharine Petrie I can find born around this time F. George & M. Elizabeth was born in Nigg, Kincardine in 1844, and her Mothers name was Elizabeth Thomson. Someone else may read this and know more about them. Sorry I could not do more for you, Good Luck. Russ. Addison.
Hi Barbara, you didn't miss the Flinders Petrie exhibition, it is only visiting at the Burrell from March 16 2001 to September 30 2001, so anyone interrested going through Glasgow for the family meeting in August can have a look. Hi Kari, I was at the Burrell collection in Glasgow last August on my visit to Scotland. Either I missed this or it wasn't there at the time. It looks like you have indicated the dates that it was there - confused me since here in U.S. we generally put the month first and then the day unless, of course, you are or have been in the military. Anyway, sorry that I missed it. This was sent to me from Judith on another list who had the 1868 death index for Old Machar on loan. I requested a look up for any Petrie`s that might be listed. Hope it is useful to someone. Hi Norma, Last Sunday I went to the Burrell collection here in Glasgow, they have a special exhibition on at the moment (16/3-30/9-2001), of Ancient Egypt, from the Flinders Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology at University College, London. It was very interesting, as was the Burrell collection itself of course. I have sent you the booklet and newspaper about the exhibition. I am still on my Norwegian family tree, but listening in on the Petrie web site. Hi group, We were becoming frustrated that we could find so few records of our Petrie clan, so we looked again at the IGI and OPRs and found that the records for the Collessie Parish contained some rather different spellings for our Petries. We believe they are all the same families because of the place and the time periods but one would not guess that from the Register. The Collessie entries for that period only recorded the name of the father and not the mother. Below is a list of the ones we extracted, in case anyone might be looking for any of these entries. If anyone connects with these Petries we would be pleased to hear from them. Unfortunately we could not find the birth of our Robert who married Christian Scott so we still have to solve the mystery. Also can anyone tell us where to find Abdie and Logie, they do not appear on our map of Scotland.
