Completely frustrated by my inablility to document the Tunis/English line, I had given up. Then in looking at a file relating to another branch of the family in the home of a great-aunt, I found a letter from her quoting a researcher (Walter Emory, dated 1954) stating that the name had been Petters and the origin was NJ.
