    3. Hi, John: The English lineaege cannot be documented; in fact, most has been proven invalid. The ancestry of Tunis and Francinah Adams Peters is proven by: the family Bible wherein he signed his name as Petters and lists births, deaths, and movement west of his children; 1880 census records for their three surviving children; Hampshire Co., VA land and legal records; Rev. War pension records; Loudoun Co., VA administration records; New Jersey Archives; Hunterdon Co., NJ records. A Tunis descendant married into a Newton family. Tunis's mother was Catherine Quick Peters. Quick is a Dutch name and Tunis is used repeatedly in her ancestry. The original spelling in the Quick family was Thoenis. As early as 1950, researchers were questioning the English lineage.
