    1. Re: TUNIS PETERS ANCESTORS
    2. Hi Miriam, So is your answer it's in the book documented suffice as fact? I'm trying to create dialogue here! In order to do that we as Peters have to bring out into the open the weaknesses and strengths of each theory and share that knowledge! Again, please tell me the facts about the German theory in this Peters forum! I am "cc Barbara Lake Peters" does not answer this forum's question. Cause my gut feeling is that you are wrong about the German theory. Yes, my gut has been wrong before.... So let me see I'll take the first step: Weaknesses of the German Theory: 1) No document saying Tunis Parents except ????(your input here) Weakness of English Theory: 1) No document saying Tunis Parents except ??? (English INPUT HERE) Strengths of German Theory: 1) Tunis is a Dutch name. Grampa Quick was Tunis. 2) Came from NJ where Quick's live. 3) Lived near Phillip Peters near N. River, Hampshire County, WV. 4) GERMAN THEORISTS ADD YOUR INPUTS HERE Strengths of English Theory: 1) The name Newton Handed down in multiple Descendents would account for an ancestor being named Newton versus someone just marrying into the Newton's. 2) handed down story of a clock and 3 brothers. 3) ENGLISH THEORISTS ENTER YOUR INPUTS HERE SO LET'S KEEP THE INFO SHARING GOING. 3. Hi John: I am not sure what it is you want. When I first started my genealogy I was taught that you could not claim as fact anything that could not be documented and that you had to cite every source. The German lineage can and is documented, from OH through (W)VA, NJ, NY and to Ger. The English cannot be. I have neither time nor desire to duplicate onto the Internet the results of my 25 yrs. of research and the 50 yrs work of others. If you do not want the entire package, then $11 will cover the Blue-Austin work and my citation and documentations.Or, do your own research.Miriam ----- Original Message ----- From: <JAKEOWEN@aol.com> To: <PETERS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, April 06, 2000 6:44 AM Subject: Re: TUNIS PETERS ANCESTORS > Hi Miriam, > > So is your answer it's in the book documented suffice > as fact? 3. I am not sure, John, what you are asking for. When I started my genealogical research I was taught you could only claim as fact what you could document, that you had to cite every source of information. . Every step of the Peters lineage from Ohio, through Hampshire Cty., (W)VA, to New Jersey, to New York to Germany is documented.Nothing in the English could be, not only by me, but by other researchers over the last fifty years, and most of it has been invalidated.. I have neither time nor inclination to duplicate on to the internet the results of my 25 yrs of research nor that of the others. However, this is some of what I found. tryiing to document it: 1) "That an Ezra Peters from England was a co-founder of Petersburg, VA." Not according to history in the Petersburg library. 2)"Zachariah Peters was father of Tunis" The data attributed to this person has bneen proven to be that of a Zachariah Parker of Connecticut. National Archives; DAR stopped accepting this lineage several years ago. 3) "Tunis was an officer in the Revolution" National Archives Military records show him as a private. 4) "Francinah Adams Peters was a cousin of John Quincy Adams" She is a descendant- of a Scottish immigrant, Alexander Adms, who came to NJ in 1656., NJ records. 5)"Tunis was an officer in the Petersburg Cockade Regiment of the War of 1812" Not according to Virginia Records and National Archives military records. In 1812 Tunis was living in Hampshire Co. 6)"The clock--" i FIRST HEARD OF THIS IN A FAMILY SUBMISSION TO THE LDS LIBRARY in Salt Lake City, with the disclaimer that the writer had never seen it, that the clock disappeared years before after the death of the then owner. LDS now puts a disclaimer on family submissions. The material given to me was compiled by a Florence Brown of Ashville, OH; supposedly based on research by a Judge Hunter of Columbus, OH who died in 1927, "--after his death no trace of his research could be found" This statement was also used in a publication of descendants of Castherine Peters Ashbrook. ---- Original Message ----- From: <JAKEOWEN@aol.com> To: <PETERS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, April 06, 2000 6:44 AM Subject: Re: TUNIS PETERS ANCESTORS > Hi Miriam, > > So is your answer it's in the book documented suffice > as fact?
