pp.19-20. The will of William Scarbrough, Sr. was witnessed by Geo. Gordon, Henry Peters, Sr. and Thomas Peters. The will was dated 4 June 1830. Henry Peters, Sr. was the father of Thomas Peters. p.21 The will of Tobias Peters, Sr. dated 25 Jan 1831. The text of the will has been posted to PETERS-L previously. p.60 Inventory of the estate of Rachel Peters, deceased. Rachel was Elizabeth Rachel Scarborough, widow of Tobias Peters, Sr. Here is the text. Inventory of the Personal Estate of Rachel Peters Deceased. One Cupboard One Bed & furniture Two bedsteads One flax wheel One Oven & One Pot Some Table furniture and Some money rec.d by the Court John Peters and ordered to be recorded Rec. 14th Feby 1834 J.J. Clark John Peters was the administrator of the estate. The second son of Tobias Peters, Sr. and Elizabeth Rachel Scarborough was John Peters, born about 1800. I assume their son John is the same John Peters who was the administrator of the estate. The text which says "John Peters" appears to be a signature, but it is imbedded in the inventory as I have shown it, rather than being at the bottom of the inventory. p.63 There is a reference in the index to Thomas Peters. I believe the reference is in error. p.63 describes an estate sale, and I am unable to determine for sure whose estate. It was Henry Dossett, or something like that. But mostly, p.63 is a list of slaves and to whom they were sold. In reading the text, I believe that Thomas and Peter were the names of two slaves. Here is an excerpt. I believe there should be a comma between "Thomas" and "Peter", but I can't see one on the microfilm. There is definitely a larger gap between the two names than normally appears between two words. Jack and Harriet valued at $800.00 to Douglas Oliver Thomas Peter & Old Peggy to Thos. Caswell valued at $750.00 p.84 Sale of Rachel Peters, estate.
