Just recieved the death cert on my wife's great grandmother, Barbara (H)elena Peters. Shows her born in Carbondale, Ohio, which I believe is in Athens Co. Her parents are Henry Peters and Anna Kistler, Henry b. in Germany, Anna in France. They lived in Danville, Knox Co. Barbara b. Oct 30, 1872, d. Dec 17, 1921, m. Alva B. Kemp. Two childen, Clarence and Urban. When Barbara died, family was living in Loudonville. Barbara buried at St. Lukes, Danville, Knox Co. Anyone out there working this family? I saw a number of posts asking questions about the "Canadian Peters". Hopefully the following is "new" information. For more details see my grandfathers' book "old families of louisiana". In 1822 a man named Samuel Jarvis Peters arrived in New Oleans from Canada where he was born. His family had moved to Canada in the 1770s' from Conn because they were Loyalists. By 1850 S J was one of the Richest Men in the US (god bless him) and one of the 5 most important men in New Orleans and all of the South. Apparently it was seriously proposed that he run for President (of the US)in 1850. He is said to have single handedly stopped the start of the Civil War in 1850. S J married (as I understand it) the orphan offspring of one of New Orleans' richest and oldest families Eulalie A de la Villebeuvre. My ggrandfather married one of their daughters and hit the Jackpot! No heir of that "merger" had to work for the next 100 years. Interesting story. Huh? The sad ending is that my Gfather spent everything that was left. Nonetheless even today my mother has an entire sideboard filled with museum quality silver pieces engraved with the Peters name on it.

I am searching for an Agnes Peters that married a Fred Lampro(e). According to Death Certificates of two of my family members, there mother was AgnesPeters and father was Fred Lamproe. They had at lease 3 Children, Ida born 1877, Theodore born 1882 and James (Jim) born 1884. Theodore is my Grandfather, so Agnes would be my Great Grandmother. That known place of resident was in Crawford County, Arkansas. Not sure where she was born or where she died. I would really like to find some information on her. Hi, I just joined the list. We're trying to trace the ancestry of George H Peters, born about 1811, possibly in Kentucky. His mother may have been named Barbra Adams, but I don't even recall where I got this. He married Sidda Adams in 1837 in Sangamon County, Illinois. He left his wife and kids and according to one cousin, operated a restaurant for a while in Xenia in Southeastern Illinois until it burned, then moved on to Evansville, Indiana, possibly running another restaurant there. Does any of this mean anything to anyone else on this list? Chuck Clark

Hello every one. I am searching for a Emory Peters, he was to have been born in Illinois ca 1870's or a little earlier. He married a Abbie Mills, and had six boys. I have found all my Mills, and I am in a panic to find Emory. If any one could help I would greatly appreciate it. Emory and Abbie lived in Mercer county Illinois. They are buried in Drury cemetary in Rock Island county Illinois. I have no death dates due to they were never carved on his stone. I am trying to find who is parents are. please help if you can. Harmon C. Peters Sr., 92, of Bristol TN died January 28, 2000, in Bristol Regional Center, Bristol TN. Surviving are his wife, Vitae C. Peters; son, Harmon C. Peters Jr. of Bristol TN; a daughter, Toni Peters of Bristol TN; and four grandchildren, Terri Peters of Stafford, VA, Angelia Slagle of Pittsburg, PA, Tommie Loudy of Kingsport, Mary Beth Peters of Bristol VA; and five great-grandchildren, Cody Peters, Joey Morrow, Taylor Peters, Hayden Loudy and Loren Loudy. Burial was in the Mountain View Cemetery. Peters was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas L. Peters and William Dennis Peters.
