Bryan, What are the Dates of your Mathew Peters? I am aware of a Mathew Peters, who had a Ralph Peters, who had a Willam Peters(b.1702) and m. Elizabeth Bayley. Ralph Peters was born 1675 and Mathew b. abt. 1640. I found this info on www.familysearch.com This Ralph Peters married Esther Preeson. I am speculating my James Peters was the son of William Peters. James Peters married a Mary Bird in 1749. William Peters(the father) had a brother Richard Peters. William lived in Philadelphia, PA. Anything sound familiar? Also there were som Francis Peters' down the line. John Peters
Please help! For a long time now I have understood that the wife of John Rogers PATRICK was Elizabeth PETERS. Elizabeth PETERS was the daughter of Mathew PETERS and his wife Rebecca [-?-]. They came from York County, VA. In trying to establish a connection for Mathew PETERS to his ancestors, I have come across some information in the line of the BURT family. The will of Richard BURT (ca. 1665-1745) lists his grandchildren, presumably children of an unnamed BURT daughter, as follows: Item I give to my grandson Francis PETERS one Shilling Sterling Item I give to my grandson Matthew PETERS one Shilling Sterling Item I give to my grandson Robert PETERS one Shilling Sterling Item I give to my grandson Edmund PETERS one Shilling Sterling Item I give to my granddaughter Mary PETERS one Shilling Sterling Item I give to my granddaughter Elizabeth PETERS one Shilling Sterling Item I give to my granddaughter Anne PETERS one Shilling Sterling Can anyone substantiate this, and/or add further information? Can these children be identified? Is there documentation on the PETERS line of YORK County, VA, anywhere? What is the name of the BURT daughter? What about the name of the PETERS she married? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Bryan L. Curtis Greensboro, NC
Hi Marilyn, We have several long branches of Peters descendants in Champaign County, Illinois. I looked in my files and have William H. Peters. Do not having anything else on him specifically. His father was William I. Peters b oct 13, 1798, and mother Catharine Kelly (b abt. Nov 1798). William I. Peters was a preacher. The Parents are both buried at Patterson Cemetery just south of St. Joseph. You can see pictures of their headstones on our website, as well as several articles about them. Including family group sheets. http://peters-family.rootsweb.com William I. and Catharine (Kelly) Peters had 5 children that we know of. Frances, Martin L., Susan, Minerva Jane, and William H.. William I. Peters, was the son of Abraham Peters. We speculate, that Abraham was a sibbling to Lydia and David Peters. And that their father was names either John or Isaac. I am a descendant of David Peters. David's son, William, William I., and Abraham are all 3 listed on the first taxpayers list of Champaign County. You can contact me offline for additional information. Mark@RainbowsEndEmbroidery.com Hope to hear from you. Thomas, Peter & Tobias??? Do you have dates on these names? I'll tell you why? I remember seeing a Tobias in a middle name of a Peters in Hampshire County, WV. Also, there was a Peter Peters, who married a Mary Sims in Culpeper Co, Va(this Peter, I'm speculating was from Southbranch Mountain, Three Churches area, Hampshire County, WV. There were a number of of people from Bucks County, PA lived near Three Churches. As we know, the Scarbourgh's were from Bucks County, PA. What are your thoughts on this? Will look to see if I can track down the Tobias in the middle name of a Peters! John Peters New York
Many of you all have probably seem announcements of temporary free lookups of War of 1812 soldiers at http://www.sierrahome.com/familytree/records On a lark, I put in a number of names I am researching. I got a hit on Thomas Peters of Anderson County, Tennessee. This is what I expected, since I know that my Thomas Peters served in the War of 1812. But I also got a hit on Tobias Peters, which I did not expect. Here is the information that came back. TOBIAS PETERS BUNCH'S REG'T (1814), E. TENNESSEE MIL. Does anybody have any additional information on Tobias's military service? Is this Tobias Peters of Anderson County, Tennessee who married Elizabeth Rachel Scarborough? Thanks in advance. Jerry, I have been just sitting back and reading your postings on Peters. I guess I better start puting my Peters on. Tobias Peters Sr. is my 4th great grandfather. His daughter Rachel married Michael Clardy (his 2nd Marr.) I believe that they only had 1 child. A daug. Jane Clardy who married Richard Goans. I also believe that Thomas, Peter & Tobias Peters are related but have found no proof yet. I have Thomas's military papers. I did not know about maybe Tobias serving in the war of 1812. I will send off today for any papers on his service. I could be that since he & his wife died early that will be no records. It has been awhile since I have looked or done anything on my Peters family. I will get it out and go thru it. I seem to be a collector not an organizer. Hi Mike I was just going through my e-mail and noticed that you have Peters family in New Brunswick. Ms. Piggy and I connect on both the Peters and Atkinson lines, so we both have pretty much the same material. What material have you already searched in your quest, and where are you? I'm in Edmonton, AB. As you probably know, where you are will determine what things you have easy access to. If your Peters came from Decatur, Ga then it is highly likely you are a descendent of Richard Peters b. 1810..........He came from Philadelphia, PA or a branch of his siblings. Hi, I have family with the surname of Peters in Decatur County, GA., & in FL. I wonder if we are from the same lines. My granddad was Edward Lamar Peters. His parents were Frank M. Peters & Eliza Jane King. He had siblings & children (his) that moved to Florida. Contact me and I'll see if I can hook you up with some information. If I don't know the answer, I have family that have done exhaustive research on this branch of my family & I can put you in touch with them.
