Hi, Happy New Year to all... I'm new to your list. I joined about a week ago and have been lurking...I didn't want to jump right in and then present myself wrongly. I live in the USA and need assistance with research in Forteviot. I am trying any information on Laurence Think Gillock. Son of unknown. Born About 1728 in Forteviot, Scotland. Died Apr 1786 in Orange Co., VA, Occupation Farmer / Realtor. It is my understanding that there are church records there (WHERE?) in Forteviot for Laurence and his parents and a sister who petitioned the church for permission to beg in the streets for food. Do any of you live near there? Can anyone help me? I'm sure the church was Catholic, but don't know the name of it. If you lived in 1728 in Forteviot, where would you go to take a ship to the new world? If his family was so poor, might he have been a prisoner? or had his voyage paid for by hiring out? I have nothing but the listing for him as born in Forteviot. Thank you for your time.. I will gladly reimburse a person for any costs for research.. Just let me know before hand so I can budget it in my monies. Thank you Nelda 11 X great grand daughter of Laurence Gillock (every record I have seen gives his middle name as think, very unusual..) again thank you Nelda Nelda L.
