Hello All We often puzzel over the writing of census takers and that appearing on other documents.I recently received a Christmas card from relatives in the Shetland Islands and in it was written their E-mail address which I am finding difficult to decipher.I have tried various combinations but they all bounce back. The address looks like " T.Sutherland 2 e B5 openwaves.com" - should the 2 be Z ; the e be @ ; or what other possible combination? Is there anyone who knows how this ISP allocates/sets out it's addresses - it would save me the time of a "snail mail" to clarify the address. Many thanks Douglas
Douglas - first hint - a valid email address does not contain any blanks. If you think there are any either ignore them or replace them with underscores "_". Next hint, there certainly must be an "@" in a proper email address somewhere. The thing before the "@" is their "email account name" and the thing after the "@" is the ISP or service hosting their email account. Next, I wondered if the "openwaves.com" part was correct so I went to that web site (http://openwaves.com) and found that it is about the dance community and it allows you to get your own email address there, and some of the names "visible" on the front page including: dancerbabe04, DanceChic92, DaNcEnSpOrTzBeBe. So certainly some weird combinations of things are likely and that makes it near impossible to guess. But if we put the "@" where the "e" is then you'd be looking for b5openwaves.com and that doesn't exist. You've got some trial and error or some sleuthing to do. Or perhaps, given that you know the name and address, a call to 192 directory assistance might be in order? Try http://192.com. I heard it was free over Christmas. Regards - Glen C.
