    3. Hi Gavin, Thank you for the inscriptions for the Gentles that you found. Jemima GENTLE was the great granddaughter of the David GENTLE and Christian MARTIN that I am looking for. Her husband James St Clair Haliburton was the registrar for the Cargill district until his death. I have copy of his death certificate, and his signature is on the entry above his death entry. His death was registered by the Assistant Registrar William McGREGOR. The Crictchton entry needs investigating. I am unaware of that surname at this stage. Can you send me copies of the photographs relevant to me. Thanks again, Gavin. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gavin Ramsay" <gavin@errol100.freeserve.co.uk> To: <PERTHSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, November 02, 2003 3:52 AM Subject: [PERTH] Cargill again > Hi All > > Earlier in the week I promised that I'd have a trip to Cargill for list members with relatives from there. Well, Cargill was looking lovely this morning. It is a beautiful sheltered spot, down off the main Perth-Blairgowrie road in a quiet area beside the river Tay. The graveyard has a very small ruin of an old church while the newer church a little way up the hill has been converted to residential use. The graveyard itself is showing its age, with stones in the 1975 Mitchell books now hard to read, and bushes encroaching around the edge of the site. There is some site maintenance taking place, and the grass must be cut reasonably regularly. > > For those of you in the Tay Valley Family History Society and using the Tay-Valley-Bridges Yahoo group, I've placed 29 photos in a folder in the 'Photos' section. Anyone not able to see them (or who would like higher-resolution copies) is most welcome to email me. Some are of the site, and most are of stones with the names below. > > So, I was looking for Craik (sorry Carolyn, none found), Dingwall/well (again, none there Anne), Thomson (goodness, what a lot of them!) and Gentle (three of them Rhonda, including the David you asked for). > > The following list includes the Gentles and the Thomsons still legible. Mary has previously shared a list of Thomson details from her sources and I'll not repeat them here. Most of these below are available as jpg files. > > 1816 on W side.
