Hello Sheila The Drymen part is correct, don't know where you got Aberfeldy from. There were Banns at Drymen and ABERFOYLE for that couple, someone has already been looking for them and submitted the Aberfoyle date. Also the IGI shows two children b. Aberfoyle. If, after moving, they stayed in Strathblane you might find the family on the 1841 census. I looked at the Aberfoyle entry briefly yesterday and the July 8th 1797 date is correct, Robert McKENZIE in Drumlane* and Agnes BLAIR dau. of John Blair in Duchray. If you like I will take another look next week, perhaps make a copy to send to you if you think they are the correct couple. As with most Banns from Aberfoyle and Port of Menteith there is no Date or Place of Marriage shown for them in the Aberfoyle Record Book. * I don't know where Drumlane was, may have been a farm, a house or even a Lane, ask on the Stirling mail list. You should check the Drymen Parish Record film to see if it gives more information for Robert. . > Again the only Elizabeth MCKENZIE, born to parents so named, was born in > Strathblane in August 1812, but this would make her eight years older > than she was listed at her death. Either you have the wrong Eliz. McKenzie or the person stating her age on the death cert. didn't know her age. > Can anyone please throw any light on this family, and where might Robert > have been a toll keeper? >From reading many census films I have noticed Toll keepers were usually elderly and had probably retired from their previous/real occupation. The Drymen Parish Record film might give an occupation at the time of marriage for Robert. I have some other info. for Blairs around the area of Drymen and up to Aberfoyle, just bits and pieces so far, am nowhere near sorting out all the various families with the same given names. One of my gtgt gr.mothers sisters married a Duncan Blair from Middle Third, Gartmore. I also need to find an Eliz. McKenzie, from somewhere, who seems to have married a Peter McOnie, a dau. turns up in Liverpool by 1864. regards, Maureen Kuzyk.
