The main archival search engine for events prior to 1855 is the Parish Registers. However, the website does not identify each parish with a county. Could someone here please post which parishes correspond with Perthshire? Or is there some way to look this up? Maybe Scotland's People has this information elsewhere on their website, but I have not found it. I can easily see that this would be one of the most valuable tools in our research. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ One useful tool is Hugh Wallis's site : http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~hughwallis/IGIBatchNumbers.htm#Page By country, within the British Isles, it effectively lists all the Parishes within each county and has the advantage of being tied into the LDS's IGI. For those who aren't aware the IGI search reference is based on the Parish numbers - another useful tool. eg C 113252 refers to Aberfoyle Parish, # 325, in Perthshire and to Births/Baptisms (Christenings) between 1692 and 1744. Likewise M 113522 refers to Marriages for Aberfoyle (in the same period.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ You can also use : http://www.scotroots.com/parish.htm ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ and there are others. Try a search for - "Parish numbers" Scotland Best Wishes and a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
