Many thanks, Les! And a Happy Christmas to all! As for it being "white", most of the central and eastern parts of the U.S.A. and Canada are having a "real" winter. I live in northern California. Today has been unseasonably warm at about 65 degrees Fahrenheit (20 degrees Celsius, more or less), which dampens some of our hopes for a "white Christmas". Yet my locality is quite unlike the California of the public imagination---we really DO get frost and snow on occasion---and so I'm in the spirit of the season, if not in the reality of it. Warmest greetings of the season! And thanks for your most useful post. ---Bob Robertson Napa Valley, California In a message dated 12/23/2004 4:45:52 PM Pacific Standard Time, Leshorn@ythanonich.freeserve.co.uk writes: > > Bob Robertson wrote : > > >>I have been doing quite a lot of research at www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk > . > The resources and the archival images are fantastic. > The main archival search engine for events prior to 1855 is the Parish > Registers. > However, the website does not identify each parish with a county. > Could someone here please post which parishes correspond with Perthshire? > Or is there some way to look this up?
