The leads I have include the following account I have been told: "I recall Peter Patrick Small was a coachman to the Laird at Castle Huntley before he established his pub. I suspect, incidentally, that John Small had two older brothers, Peter Small and Patrick Small, who were killed at Culloden, in which John would have been too young to participate; thus, when he had a son, he named him with the oddly Papist Peter Patrick cognomens, quite an unusual name for someone almost certainly a member of the Episcopal Church of Scotland."
