    1. Re: [PERTH] Perth monument inscriptions
    2. Kaye, In your cemeteries for Fowlis Wester do you perhaps have an Isabella Shewster Robertson b. May 24, 1861 and is not found in the 1871 census for Strathdon Aberdeenshire where the family has moved. Someone was looking up her birth and could not find it but I do have it from the IGI files but she is gone in 1871. I also then have a Carolyn born Fowlis Wester the next year and she is in the 1871 census. I know we have spoken before.I have a few problems 1: there is no Fowlis Wester cemetery 2: Fowlis Easter is in Angus, not Perth 3.The books are pre-1855 (there are some exceptions), and she was brn in 1861 4 to look for one Robertson, I have to look up every Robertson grave as there are no first names in the indexes. less than 1% of the people in a cemetery had stones (and of those many are broken or unreadable) so she and her family could be there and you would never know it...you can't assume that because there is a Robertson they are related. So never assume if you find one they are YOUR family Fowlis Easter graves Robertson1.3.7.29 1 isabel robertson 1694 35 spouse to androw moudie 3 1850 john robertson 1830 48, w Margt young 1847 and family 7 george robetson overseer Fowlis Easter 1855 70 after 52y service with the family of Ochtertyre, 1w Barbara McDiarmid 25.2.1822 36, 2w Margt Murry 10.6.1857 80, s Geo 27.6.1834 18, da Margt 6.4.1838 30, s John overseer Moncrieffe d 17.5.1840 29 29 John Robertson, Mill of Foulis 6.12.1856, w Margt Blair 5.1.1850 38, s Joseph 3.5.1849 4y, da Anne 22.9.1853 20, 3s Robt fell in Caffre Orange Free State 10.6.1865 26, 1s Jas 14.8.1902 66, 2s Thos 3.8.1898 58 yt s John 22.7.1921 72 all int in private cem Jamerberg DriftWepener Orange Free State, yda Helen 11.6.1930 88 sorry no shewster robertson...i'll skim shewster but still think you'd better go through the Fowlis Easter parish film for mort cloth rentals and the GROS for births. You can hire a professional to look, since the record may not be established church of Scotland--which are the only records at the GROS. They could have been another faction or another church. Where did you get the date 1861 and Fowlis wester info from? It may just be wrong. Check the LDS for the film at the second link. The recording of the records didn't stop at 1855...so you may find it on the end of the parish film. was she a Shewster who married a Robertson or a Robertson with a Shewster middle name? I was going to look at other surnames in the MIs but I think I think it is at a dead end.... Have you tried wills? that's a real long shot if she died as a child. I searched to for Robertson in fowlis wester, even with soundex or with a wildcard like Ro* .You didn't list her parents...i suspect that is what you are trying to find? you should also consider that they could have been illegitimate, especially if it is the first child. The kirk session notes are helpful but they weren't filmed. You might consider a professional who can search the records at both places.
