One problem you are going to find with this family is that Alexander and two of his siblings appear in baptism records as PEDDIE - as does the marriage of his father, also Alexander, to Helen Coventry. The remainder of Alexander's siblings are baptised as PENNIE All this takes place in Tulliallan Both PEDDIE and PENNY ar not uncommon in the immediate area As yet I have not attempted to trace all lines of descent to see what form evolved If most lines evolved as PENNY then we must accept that - it may have gone in BOTH directions !! There are no entries on the fiche at all for the name PENNY although there are a few for the variant spelling PENNIE, but none of these are in Fossoway. Hi John When I downloaded a week's emails yesterday evening your message caught my eye because I had just driven through Blairingone on the way back from Larbert! I had a quick look in the 1851 Census index I have for Cleish parish in case there were any KIRK or PENNY entries that might be of interest - none found. Then I noticed in Tony's message that AP and MK had a daughter, Helen/Ellen, with the unusual middle name COVENTRY, so had another look and found Isabella COVENTRY, age 63, born PER Fossaway Ref Book 1 Schedule 24 May be one to file away for future reference........ or a complete red herring!
