I've been reading this forum with interest since the subject of monumental inscriptions came up. My great-grandfather, Robert Robertson, b. 1826 in Forteviot, leased Middle Third Farm, on Tullebardine Road, at the edge of Auchterarder/Blackford, from about 1861 on. We know he died in a farming accident sometime between 1883 and 1886, but I have been unable to locate a death certificate in Scottish archives (www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk). I have photos of him, of the farm, and even his original marriage certificate in my possession. He appears in the 1881 census for Middle Third. After his death, his widow Elizabeth Drummond and their children emigrated to the US and Canada. I believe he is buried in either Blackford or Auchterarder cemeteries (although there's a slight chance he may have been buried in Forteviot or Edinburgh). The monument, if found, will likely give the date of his death. Can I look this up on online archives? Is there someone who can do the lookup for me? It would clear up one of the big mysteries in our family. Thanks! ---Bob (Robert Drummond) Robertson Napa Valley, California
