On the 1881 Census the address for one of my families is JAS.WHITES LAND in Carriden , Linlithgow. I wonder if anyone knows what this means. One of my husband's ancestors died in 1876, a pauper at Cowden Hill, Carriden. Does anyone know if this place still exists and also where would I find any records of paupers? Many thanks Barbara
