Do you have any record of the following persons? Alexander (or James - some confusion here) McLaren, born before 1750 in Callander; married 17 Dec 1768 in Kilmadock to Elizabeth (or Janet - more confusion) Ferguson, also born in Callander before 1750. Only one known child: James McLaren born 9 Sep 1779 in Callander, married in Ontario, Canada (or possibly in USA) between 1810 and 1818 to Mary McNabb (born in Islay in 1794). They had 5 children, all born in Ontario between 1819 and 1838: Alexander, Andrew, James, Mary & John.
