Jan Doreen is right - the Dundee Courier (the region's daily) and the Perthshire Advertiser (twice weekly) are the likely places. The Courier is the most likely of the two to have a notice. Sometimes the acknowledgements a few days after the funeral, or even on the anniversary, can be more informative if you are looking for family members. If you cannot get films of these newspapers locally (or need an index), you might try the public library in Perth (that's Perth, Scotland). They have an excellent Local History section, and a card index to personal records in these two newspapers. As a visit in person might be difficult for you, they do offer a research service at £19.10 per hour, and unless you have a very common name to look for the search shouldn't take very long. all the best Gavin. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jan Haggart" <archangel1@optusnet.com.au> To: <PERTHSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, May 23, 2004 5:46 AM Subject: [PERTH] Obituaries > Is there someone out there who would know which newspaper would be the most > likely on in which to find an obituary notice for someone who died in Perth > during the 1970s and 1980s.
