The family ran the post office in Meigle. Alan arrived in New York City on 25.6.1805 on the Caledonia from Glasgow and was going to stay with his brother, Donald (b 1882, Meigle) in Jersey City. He returned to Scotland but arrived again in NYC on 21.6.1915 on the Tuscania from Glasgow this time to stay with his brother at 149 Center Street, NY, NY. It's what happened to him after this which is of interest to me.
