The church in Gilmerton was a Free Church of Scotland church (now converted to a house) and so post-dates your ancestors. The village was initially in the parish of Fowlis Wester but annexed to Monzie sometime in the 18th century. It would be worth searching the parish records of both parishes (Monzie and Fowlis, are now a united parish but both villages previously had separate Church of Scotland churches with their own records. The OPR for Monzie are particularly good.). Gilmerton is mentioned in the 1845 Statistical Account articles for both parishes (written in 1837 in both cases). Until very recent times Gilmerton was essentially two streets. It grew up mainly for workers on the nearby estate which granted land for housebuilding.
