Hi Colin, If it is any consolation, Death Certificates are notorious for having wrong information, well at least in my family!!!!! However, having said that, I think it is in general. People informing either forget or didn't really know names and dates of births, etc. On my great grandfather's marriage certificate, he gave his Grandmother's name as being that of his mother. You can imagine what a merry dance that led me! My own Uncle couldn't even get his mother's name right and had it recorded as Keir instead of Kerr.
