Dear All, Just as I was getting ready to leave for work this morning, an interesting article popped up on the TV news. A new website will be available from noon today (UK time), which might help us understand our ancestors better. The address is www.visionofbritain.org.uk It has information which should help us understand what a given area of Britain looked like at any point in the past 200 years. Right now there is just a front page, but within the next 10 minutes it should be up and running. Following on from the havoc created when the 1901 census was first available, they do believe that this site will be powerful enough to cope with demand from day 1. We just have to wait and see. I get the feeling that there will not be any personal info available, but there should be lots of historical information, and I do know that lots of people are interested to find out about the conditions in which their ancestors lived. They did mention that it cost a lot to put this site together (several years of work), but no mention of whether or not we would have to pay for access. I am sure this will be of interest to many of you. Happy searching. Doreen Cuthbert Fife
