    3. Looking for information on David SIMPSON, cooper "of Kinmonth in the Parish of Dumbarney" who was alive in 1785 when his daughter, Mary SIMPSON married John TAYLOR in Perth. I am unfamiliar with this parish - what sources would be available? Is there a website that I can visit to find this out? Any leads appreciated. Thanks. 3. Dear Steve That'll be Dunbarney with an 'n' to give it its more usual modern name. Centred on Bridge of Earn, a few miles south of Perth. Googling for Dunbarney will give you something, and of course the Statistical Accounts are always worth a read: http://edina.ac.uk/statacc/ where, going to the Parish list, you will find it under the name Dunbarny (no 'e' this time). If you don't know the Statistical Accounts, go there now! They are a wonderful read for family historians. There is a very fine 128 page book by JW and RE Seath published by Perth and Kinross District Libraries in 1991, which I bought there not long back for a mere £1.95, entitled: 'Dunbarney. A Parish with a Past'. The P&K Library bookshop is bursting with juicy books and pamphlets for anyone interested in Perthshire history: http://www.pkc.gov.uk/library/publications.htm all the best Gavin. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Steve Marshall" <smarshall2071@rogers.com> To: <PERTHSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 20, 2004 2:24 AM Subject: [PERTH] SIMPSON - Kinmonth, Dumbarney Parish, pre 1785 > Looking for information on David SIMPSON, cooper "of Kinmonth in the Parish of Dumbarney" who was alive in 1785 when his daughter, Mary SIMPSON married John TAYLOR in Perth. > > I am unfamiliar with this parish - what sources would be available?
