    3. Dear Listers, A will I was reseaching reads, Tennant of Farm of Ladenford. The will was probated at Forfar ,Sherif Court. The date 23/5/1859 Could anyone please tell me if this is the name of the farm. ? Would he have been a Labourer or Tennant Farmer ? Kind regards, Margaret Simpson

    3. Margaret, The Ladenford in question will be the one about five miles from the town of Forfar itself, which is within the county of Angus. If it states he was the 'Tenant of Farm of Ladenford' then that's what he was. He probably leased it from the Carnegy family of Lour, who were the nearest big landowners. That could easily be confirmed by referring to the annual County Valuation Rolls. I am unsure where the Carnegy estate records are held, possibly still at Lour.
