Hi, I am new to the list and researching my gggggrandparents, William McGregor and Elizabeth McGregor, both born approx. 1788, Scotland. I've been told it was not uncommon to marry within the same clan. Is this true? They were married 1 May 1808, in Crieff, Perth, Scotland. This is my brick wall. I know they had at least 8 children. My line of descent is from their son, Donald McGregor, born 6 Nov. 1814. He married Janet Kennedy, born 29 Aug. 1813 of Comrie, on 17 Feb. 1833, in Crieff, Perth. Their son, Peter McGregor, born 7 Dec. 1846 in Crieff with Lanark (?) also mentioned. He married Margaret Barbour, born Feb. 1852 in Ireland, on 11 June 1969, in Glasgow. They emigrated to America sometime in the 1880's with at least 4 small children, I believe. Does anyone know of or have a connection to any of the aforementioned?
