I'd been wondering for ages where Janet CRICHTON (born 20 Jan 1811, Alyth, Perthshire) and her husband Robert STEWART (married 25 Dec 1830, Dunfermline, Fife) had disappeared after 1851, at which time they were living in Scoonie, Fife: 1851 Census Durie Coal Works, Scoonie, Fife Stewart Robert Head M 43 Coal Grieve Perth, Alyth Stewart Janet Wife M 40 Perth, Alyth Stewart Robert Son U 18 Perth, Alyth Stewart Susan Dau U 15 Perth, Alyth Stewart John Son U 10 Scholar Fife, Wemyss Stewart Jean Dau U 8 Scholar Fife, Wemyss Stewart Daniel Son U 4 Fife, Scoonie Stewart Janet Dau U 2 Fife, Scoonie Stewart Margaret Dau U 3mths Fife, Scoonie I've now found pretty compelling evidence of three of their children in Queensland, Australia (not that surprising, as at least five of Janet's siblings emigrated to Australia). First, I found the death of a John Crichton STEWART on 26 Feb 1926 in Queensland, Australia; the death index gives his parents as "Robert STEWART and Janet CRICHTON" - I believe this to be Janet and Robert's son John born 2 Dec 1839 in West Wemyss, Wemyss, Fife. Next, I found the death of a Daniel STEWART on 15 Jun 1880, Queensland, Australia; the death index gives his parents as "Robert STEWART and Janet CRICHTON" - I believe this to be Janet and Robert's son Daniel born 10 Aug 1847, Scoonie, Fife. Lastly, I found the death of a Janet Crichton FLYNN on 27 May 1904, Queensland, Australia; the death index gives her parents as "Robert STEWART and Janet CRICHTON" - I believe this to be Janet and Robert's daughter Janet, born 15 Nov 1849, Scoonie, Fife. I had a look for a marriage, and found a Janet STEWART marrying a William FLYNN on 19 Jan 1874, Queensland, Australia - the date and location would fit... If anyone has any further info about the above, or any other of Robert STEWART and Janet CRICHTON's family, I shall be very pleased to hear of it! Best wishes, Sue
