    3. Smiddy Hill and Tullymoran are both in Perthshire and are places that my ancestors came from. I am trying to learn their proximity to each other. Thank you. Kathy

    3. Hi What is your source for these locations, particularly Smiddy Hill? The reason for asking is that its not uncommon to find multiple locations with the same name, for example there are seven Smiddyhill in todays Aberdeenshire, one in Scottish Borders, one in Angus and a Smiddy Hill also in Angus. By looking at your source information, for example a census, other details will help narrow down where Smiddy Hill was as it doesn't appear to be on a modern map. The reason for looking at both Smiddyhill and Smiddy Hill is that its not uncommon to find the names like this written both ways in different documents Andy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kathleen Ogg-Moss" <koggmoss@gmail.com> To: <perthshire@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, March 26, 2010 11:38 AM Subject: [PERTHSHIRE] Smiddy Hill & Tullymoran > Smiddy Hill and Tullymoran are both in Perthshire and are places that my > ancestors came from. 3. Hi Andy, The names Smiddyhill (written as one word on document) and Tullymoran come from the baptism records. Both are in Perthshire. I am just wondering how close together they are. 3. Hi The name of the parishes that the baptisms came from will help to narrow down the location.
