There were Mushats in Dunblane much earlier than you have. The" Visitation of the Diocese of Dunblane, 1586-1589" contains three Mushats in the index at the back. According to Black's "The Surnames of Scotland", this surname comes from a Norman immigrant, William de Montefixo. Perth & Kinross Libraries seem to have a couple of pamphlets on Mushet families.
