To pick up on THAT, neither is a "source". They are both indexes. The source is the parish registers themselves. And incidentally, they are not totally the same in what they contain. The IGI officially stopped their extraction process from official records at the year 1874, so anything of more recent date will be a member submission. scotlandspeople is nowadays updated once a year, so it is ongoing. The IGi was based on what was available at the time, and some more registers were found after they completed their extractions. Gordon.
